2020 has shone a glaring spotlight on the injustice that has always existed in our society: Police brutality, environmental catastrophe, and the onset of Covid-19 have made this one of the hardest years in recent memory, especially for low-income folks and people of color.
But we believe we can make this year a turning point.
If we stand together and take action, we can keep kids safe, immigrants in the country, families housed, and workers protected. We can make real, measurable change in the lives of those who 2020 has harmed most, and ensure that 2021 is a new beginning.

For women like Marquesa, 2020 was about family.
When her three-year-old daughter Bles’sed didn’t come home from school one day, Marquesa was terrified. she soon learned that her ex had taken Bles’sed and wouldn’t let her see her. Marquesa was devastated. Months went by. She thought she may never see her daughter again.
Then, Marquesa found Open Door Legal. We took on her case, and fought tooth and nail to get Bles’sed back. Thankfully, just before shelter in place began, we won Marquesa’s case. Bles’sed came home, and Marquesa finally felt whole again.
And she’s not alone. This year, Open Door Legal helped over 600 families like Marquesa’s. That wouldn’t be possible without supporters like you.
