Board President of Open Door Legal

Law is a constant force in our society, touching every facet of our lives–from boardrooms to classrooms and beyond. Yet, the daunting barrier of financial constraints often denies many access to counsel. Open Door Legal is the beacon breaking down these walls, ensuring that justice is not a privilege but a right for all.

In California innovation often sets the stage for nationwide trends in technology, and medical advancements. In the same way, Open Door Legal’s model can ripple out to the rest of our nation. The visionary approach of Open Door Legal, pioneered by founder Adrian Tirtanadi, is not just about providing legal services; it’s about transforming communities, starting with the very neighborhoods we call home, like Bayview-Hunters Point.

I first met founder Adrian Tirtanadi in law school. He was giving a talk at the University of San Francisco about starting Open Door Legal.  Two years into its inception, Open Door Legal was already making a tangible impact in my community. I interned twice during law school and once after passing the bar, witnessing firsthand the profound change it brought to those in need.

As I think about my community, I look forward to Open Door Legal’s future of getting to a city-wide scale.

As I think about my community, I look forward to Open Door Legal’s future of getting to a city-wide scale. For San Francisco, this means protecting its most vulnerable residents from civil theft, delivering robust estate planning services, and tackling homelessness directly by providing competent legal counsel and helping people keep their homes.

The staff of Open Door Legal could be doing anything else in the world, yet they’ve chosen to dedicate themselves to this noble cause. They navigate legal intricacies with selfless dedication, driven by a love for their work and a genuine desire to serve. In 2023, they opened their fourth office location, accessible to community members. I am deeply encouraged by Open Door Legal and excited for its continued growth.
