Frontline Attorney

Equity is taking into account the fact that some people have started with so much less that they’re disadvantaged. So to be in an equitable place with others, you might give them more pieces of the pie than you would give the next person.

“My journey to law was a really long one, because actually, in college I was pre-med.  When I graduated from college and was looking for my next step, I wound up doing a dual-degree program that was psychology and the law. I wound up just becoming more interested in the legal side of things.

Every issue is like a puzzle and you’re trying to find where it fits like pieces of a puzzle, and that’s like how you’re identifying the law and then where in the law you can either help this person or not help them.

My role as Frontline Attorney covers a lot of different areas, it’s very multi-faceted. I need to know a little bit of all our areas of law. I help folks more limited-scope so I don’t do a lot of cases, but I think the brief service work in itself is still pretty impactful to people. Not everyone needs full-scope representation, but just having somebody who they can talk to and get answers to their questions from is still a valuable service that we can provide at Open Door Legal.

Even when we don’t necessarily have remedies for people, I think it’s still important for them to know what their options are and if they are liable to somebody else and how to put themselves in the best position. I have become so passionate about making sure that folks have what everybody else should have too.”
